The Faculty voted that April 29, Matthew Vassar’s birthday, be “entered on the calendar as a holiday to be annually observed by appropriate commemoration exercises and that it be known as Founder’s Day.” It was further voted that the celebration be on April 30^th that year, as the 29^th fell on Sunday.
